General Settings
Sender Information
| Setting | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| From Name | The name that appears in the “From” field | Acme Company |
| From Email | The email address emails are sent from | newsletter@acme.com |
| Reply-To Email | Where replies are sent (optional) | support@acme.com |
Company Information
For CAN-SPAM compliance, you should include your physical address:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Company Name | Your business or organization name |
| Address Line 1 | Street address |
| Address Line 2 | Suite, floor, etc. (optional) |
| City | City name |
| State/Province | State or province |
| Postal Code | ZIP or postal code |
| Country | Country name |
This information is automatically included in your email footers.
Email Delivery Settings
Choosing a Mailer
Go to Settings → Mailer to choose your email delivery method:
| Mailer | Best For | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|---|
| WordPress Mail | Testing, small lists | No setup required | Poor deliverability |
| SMTP | Small to medium lists | Better deliverability | Speed limits |
| Amazon SES | High volume sending | High deliverability, scalable | AWS account required |
Queue Settings
Configure how emails are processed in the background:
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Batch Size | 50 | Emails processed per cron run |
| Rate Limit | 100/min | Maximum emails per minute |
| Max Retries | 3 | Retry attempts for failed emails |
Performance Tip: If using Amazon SES, you can increase the batch size to 100-200 for faster sending. For SMTP, keep it lower to avoid connection timeouts.
Tracking Settings
Navigate to Settings → Tracking to configure email analytics:
Open Tracking
When enabled, WP Outreach inserts a tiny invisible pixel in each email. When the recipient opens the email and loads images, the open is recorded.
- Enable Open Tracking: Toggle on/off
- Opens are tracked with first and last open timestamps
- Total open count is recorded for each recipient
Click Tracking
When enabled, all links in your emails are rewritten to pass through the tracking system. This records which links were clicked and by whom.
- Enable Click Tracking: Toggle on/off
- Each unique link click is recorded
- Link performance reports show click counts per URL
Post Subscription Settings
Configure automatic notifications when posts are published or updated:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Enable Post Subscriptions | Allow subscribers to follow specific posts |
| Supported Post Types | Which post types can have subscriptions |
| Notification Template | Email template for update notifications |
| Notification Delay | Minutes to wait before sending (allows for quick edits) |
Cron Configuration
WP Outreach uses WordPress cron for background processing. For high-volume sites, consider using a real cron job:
Using WP-Cron (Default)
Works automatically with no configuration. Processing occurs when visitors load your site.
Using External Cron (Recommended for High Volume)
For more reliable processing, disable WP-Cron and set up a real cron job:
- Add to
wp-config.php:define('DISABLE_WP_CRON', true); - Set up a server cron job to run every minute:
* * * * * wget -q -O - https://yoursite.com/wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron > /dev/null 2>&1
Health Check
WP Outreach includes a health check feature that verifies your configuration:
- Go to WP Outreach → Settings
- Scroll to the Health Check section
- Review the status of each component
A green checkmark indicates the component is working correctly. Yellow or red indicators suggest issues that need attention.
